CABI’s Swiss office welcomes ministers from the Canton Jura

On 21 October 2016, CABI in Switzerland hosted a visit from the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports, Mr. Martial Courtet, and the Minister of Environment, Mr. David Eray from the Government of the Canton Jura.

The visit introduced the Ministers to CABI’s work across the world, the organisation’s Swiss centre, and showcased examples of local projects of interest to the Canton. The visit was also an opportunity for CABI management and scientists to meet representatives from the Government, which was appointed in December last year.

The Canton Jura financially supports several CABI initiatives, such as the Master of Advanced Studies in Integrated Crop Management (MAS in ICM), its collaboration with the University of Neuchâtel, its information and education services for the local community with respect to invasive species, and several local research projects (e.g. Box Tree Moth, Agricultural Compensation Areas).

“It was a pleasure to meet both Ministers and introduce them to CABI’s work,” said CABI’s Swiss Centre Director, Dr Hariet Hinz. “They showed great interest in our projects and we are looking forward to a continued collaboration with the Canton.”

The ministers were received at CABI’s Swiss centre by Dr Ulrich Kuhlmann, Executive Director, Global Operations, Dr Hariet L. Hinz, Country Director, Dr André Gassmann, CABI Consultant, Dr Marc Kenis, Programme Leader Risk Analysis and Invasion Ecology and Dr René Eschen, Senior Project Scientist.
