CABI News

6 July 2016 – Yesterday, CABI launched an innovative new version of its online database platform, CAB Direct, the most thorough and extensive source of reference in the applied life sciences. CAB Direct gives access to over 11 million abstracts and full text articles and incorporates leading bibliographic databases, CAB Abstracts and Global Health.

CABI worked with development partners from across academia and industry to develop this next generation of the CAB Direct platform. The updated platform is designed around the way researchers work, with new features to help users get the most out of available literature. CABI was keen to ensure that the new version of CAB Direct has a fresh look and feel and a more intuitive user experience.

The new ‘My Projects’ feature enables users to create an unlimited number of projects to help them efficiently organise searches and records. The visualisation tools help researchers spot trends and identify key topics. Highlighting and annotation tools make it easy to indicate significant passages of text and add personal notes about them. Case studies, such as ‘CAB Abstracts on CAB Direct: Panama Disease of Bananas’, show how CABI’s world-renowned content, together with the platform’s new features, are benefitting users.

Talking about the new version of CAB Direct, Clodagh Corcoran, CABI’s Head of Sales, said: “We’re delighted to bring this updated platform to our customers. The CAB Direct team has worked tirelessly to ensure we deliver a great experience to all who use CABI’s databases on our proprietary platform. We’re already receiving excellent feedback from customers. We’re looking forward to the ongoing development of this innovative new platform.”
