7 June 2014 CABI has received a prestigious award for supporting the 3rd Interdisciplinary Tourism Research Conference / 7th World Conference for Graduate Research in Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure in Istanbul, Turkey, by providing book prizes to the conferences winning graduate researchers. CABI authors were on hand at the conference to present the books to the successful graduates.
The conferences provide an opportunity for researchers to competitively submit papers focusing on aspects of tourism, hospitality and leisure research. As a scientific publisher, with tourism as one of its key areas of specialisation, CABI was excited to play a central role in the event and to receive an award for its contribution.
Were delighted to be recognised for supporting the conference, and proud to see our authors presenting some fantastic titles to the winning graduates, said Claire Parfitt, Senior Commissioning Editor at CABI. CABI is a not-for-profit organisation, with international development and knowledge-sharing at its core, so its particularly nice to see our authors presenting books to the next generation of researchers in tourism.
CABI authors Muzaffer Uysal, co-editor of Creating Experience Value in Tourism, and Pauline Sheldon, co-author of Tourism Information Technology 2nd Ed, (forthcoming July and August 2014 respectively) were two of the CABI authors presenting titles to graduates. The winner of the Outstanding PhD Thesis Award was Oliver Chikuta, Midlands State University, Zimbabwe and receiving the prize for Outstanding Masters Thesis was Julia Giddy, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, South Africa.
CABI authors Yvette Reisinger and Stephen Smith also gave keynote presentations at the conferences, and Abraham Pizam delivered a well-received video message on tourism.
