The Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) has signed a five-year deal to benefit from CABI’s range of world-leading scientific publications and databases including CAB Abstracts – an online platform of more than 12 million records.

CAPES, a Brazilian federal government agency under the Ministry of Education, is responsible for quality assurance in postgraduate courses with more than 200 institutions serving as members of the academic consortium.

The agreement with CABI means CAPES will not only benefit from CAB Abstracts – providing comprehensive records of applied life sciences including agriculture, environment, leisure/tourism, veterinary sciences, food science and nutrition – but also: anytime, anywhere access to CABI’s renowned book list and a reviews journal covering agriculture, global health, nutrition, natural resources and veterinary science.

The deal also includes a range of CABI compendia covering crop protection, animal health and production, aquaculture, forestry and invasive species.

CAB Abstracts alone features publications from over 120 countries in 50 languages, including English abstracts for most articles, giving researchers the fullest global picture for any subject. CAPES had previously been a customer of CAB Abstracts and Compendia on an annual basis before deciding to agree the five-year deal.

René Schölzel, Sales Director, Publishing at CABI, said, ‘I’m delighted that the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) has chosen CABI’s scientific publications and databases, including CAB Abstracts, to aid its primary mission of providing quality assurance in postgraduate courses in Brazil.

‘CAPES joins the many other hundreds of premier scientific research institutes and organizations worldwide that benefit from CABI content. We are excited to start our partnership and look forward to working together.’
