Abstract

Eimeria zuernii, E. smithi, E. bovis, E. cylindrica, E. canadensis, E. ellipsoidalis, E. subspherica, E. auburnensis and Isospora aksaica were found in cattle herds in the Azerbaĭdzhan SSR. The highest prevalence of infection (13.6%) was recorded in calves.

Eight species of Eimeria were found in sheep from 5 regions of eastern Azerbaĭdzhan, USSR: E. faurei, E. granulosa and E. crandallis were the most frequently found species, followed in decreasing order by E. ovis, E. bakuensis, E. ahsata, E. parva and E. intricata.

Eimeria debliecki, E. polita, E. scrofae and Isospora suis were found in pigs in Eastern Azerbaĭdzhan (USSR). The prevalence of infection and was related to age, hygiene, season and climate. Oocyst-contamination of various implements used at the farms contributed to the spread of infection.
