The CABI BioProtection Portal has been named as the winner of the Gold Stevie Award for Sustainability Initiative of the Year in Europe as part of the 22nd Annual International Business Awards.

The International Business Awards (IBAs) are the world’s premier business awards program. All individuals and organizations worldwide – public and private, for-profit, and non-profit, large, and small – are eligible to submit nominations. The 2025 IBAs received nominations from organizations and individuals in 78 nations and territories.

Dr Ulrich Kuhlmann, CABI’s Executive Director, Operations, said, “Winning this Gold Stevie Award significantly raises the profile of the CABI BioProtection Portal as a key player in addressing global sustainability challenges.”

Excellent tool empowering farmers with safe, sustainable pest solutions

More than 3,800 entries organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories.,

The CABI BioProtection Portal won the Gold Stevie Award for Sustainability Initiative of the Year in Europe after judges said the resource is “an excellent tool empowering farmers globally with safe, sustainable pest solutions. Real-world results show huge potential for greater agricultural transformation.”

They added that the CABI BioProtection Portal is a “a great resource for anyone in the food chain” with “clear and expert content and clear impact for farmers.”

The CABI BioProtection Portal is the largest, free global resource for biological pest management. The Portal’s mission is to raise awareness and encourage the adoption of bioprotection among growers and advisors.

It offers a comprehensive, searchable directory of nationally registered biocontrol and biopesticide crop protection products, along with detailed guidance to help agricultural advisors and growers’ source and effectively incorporate these sustainable natural products into integrated pest management programmes.

Highly impactful and accessible initiative

One judge said, “The CABI BioProtection Portal is a valuable initiative promoting sustainable farming practices worldwide. Real-world cases from Uganda and India show a strong impact – improved yields, reduced pesticide use, and greater farmer independence. Its scientific credibility, global coverage, and regulator partnerships make it stand out.”

Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 250 executives worldwide, who participated in the judging process from May to July 2025.
