The Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) is pleased to welcome CABI into its membership and share in the organization’s vision of creating a world where sustainable agriculture is the foundation of thriving and resilient rural landscapes and livelihoods.

CABI is an international not-for-profit organization that improves people’s lives by providing information and applying scientific expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment.

The organization, which was established in 1910 and in 1987 was reconstituted as an international and intergovernmental organization governed by a treaty-level agreement, registered with the United Nations in 1988, helps farmers grow more and lose less of what they produce to crop pests and diseases.

CABI’s 50 Member Countries guide and influence its core areas of work. By working closely with its donors and partners, individuals and organizations, countries and regions, CABI aims to solve problems and build sustainable livelihoods. The organization’s work is delivered by staff based in its global network of centers.

The inclusion of CABI as a member of SAN comes as it also welcomed the Red de AcciĂłn en Agricultura Alternativa (Alternative Agriculture Action Network -RAAA for its Spanish acronym) into its membership.

“SAN continues its positive growth with these two strong new members that are examples of work with vision and a significant impact. CABI and RAAA add great value to the network by bringing knowledge and experience that help us fulfill our mission,” said José Joaquín Campos, SAN’s Executive Director.

Dr Dennis Rangi, CABI’s Director General, Development, said, “CABI is pleased to be part of a great partnership which, through shared skills, knowledge and expertise, will enable both parties to work towards strengthening agricultural value chains and global food security. Partnerships are at the heart of what we do and this is particularly important as we respond to a post COVID-19 world.”

The arrival of CABI and RAAA to the SAN family keeps strengthening the network and expanding the positive impact to transform agriculture around the world.
