17 October 2013 – CABI has launched InfoTree, a practical internet resource providing information for people working in the more applied areas of forest science. This new product focuses on the most common trees, pests and diseases studied by forest scientists, encompassing information from over 350,000 abstracts of scientific papers, through to reviews written by specialists in the field. In-depth profiles are available for each species covering a total of 250 trees and 50 pests and diseases, as well as selected chapters from recently published CABI books in forest science.

Key features make InfoTree a practical resource. All the information is located in a single place making it a one-stop-shop for reviews, abstracts, full papers, news items and datasheets. Detailed datasheets on trees, and forest pests and diseases provide a quick reference guide for enhancing teaching and training. Regularly updated news and an events calendar keep those working in forest science research up-to-date with the most recent developments.

CABI has been providing information to forest scientists for over 80 years: InfoTree is the culmination of decades of expertise and knowledge. Our highlights over the years have been Forest Science Database and the Forestry Compendium. Taking just over a year to build and assembled by experts, InfoTree provides tailored information to today’s forest scientists, covering all relevant subjects: agroforestry; climate change; forest environment, health, management and products; and forests and society. InfoTree will help anyone working or researching within the area of applied forest science.

Andrea Powell, Executive Director Publishing at CABI, said, “We’re excited to be launching InfoTree, a brand new product that will bring a wide range of highly practical and scientifically rigorous information for the growing forestry sector. Its coverage of environmental and economic aspects of forestry and forest management should make it an essential resource for anyone involved in both research and practical activities.”
