About
I am an entomologist with over 20 years of experience working in sustainable agriculture with a focus on integrated pest management and biological control of agricultural insect pests.
I have led and/or implemented over 12 regional research and development cooperation projects relating to global food security and sustainable development goals. I have worked with a wide range of stakeholders and donors, and facilitated technology transfer from China to other developing countries in Asia and Africa for sustainable management of crop pests, with the aim to improve local agricultural production and livelihoods of smallholder farmers.
I am currently responsible for CABI’s business development and operation in the East and South-East Asia region. Prior to this role, I was Regional Director for CABI in East Asia from 2011-2021. I joined CABI as a Post-doc Research Scientist in Switzerland from 2001-2003, and then a Project Coordinator in China from 2003-2010.
I am also an adjunct professor at the Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and serve as a member of the Steering Committees of Chinese Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Affairs (MARA) – CABI Joint Laboratory for Bio-safety (Beijing) and Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institution (MARDI) – CABI Joint Laboratory (Kuala Lumpur).

Partnerships for improving fruit production in DPR Korea
Despite advances in agriculture in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPR Korea), a shortage of fresh produce undermines the population’s nutritional status. Fruit is grown on large state farms and cooperative farms, but pests and diseases reduce yields and quality. CABI is working with key stakeholders in the fruit sector to develop best practice guidelines for fruit integrated pest management.

Partnership with DPR Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture
Agricultural production in DPR Korea is low, resulting in food shortages and the need for international aid. Ensuring food security is a priority for the government. We have helped the newly-established Department of Plant Protection to sustainably improve agricultural production by optimizing its ability to develop and implement plant protection strategies. We have enhanced their operational capacity, improved access to knowledge and facilitated interactions with international counterparts.
