Strengthening agricultural research and development between Kenya and China through partnerships

CABI, Institute of Plant Protection- Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IPP-CAAS), Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS) and Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO), and Egerton University (EGU) have entered into a partnership to strengthen agricultural research and development between Kenya and China. This partnership falls under the Belt and Road initiative proposed by the Chinese Government to facilitate trade and economic development across 60 countries globally.

Work starts on ambitious global plan to diversify agriculture in a hotter world

Agricultural experts and leaders gathered on 25-26 October in Nairobi, Kenya, to help develop an ambitious plan to transform global agriculture as part of the Global Action Plan for Agricultural Diversification (GAPAD). The roundtable responds to the challenge of climate change and real threats to the production of the planet’s major crops in a hotter world, and was organised by CABI and the World Vegetable Centre (AVRDC).
