MA in Journalism and Communication, PGD in Mass Communication, Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine
I am a science journalist, media trainer and veterinary doctor. I have worked with CABI since November 2017 as training coordinator for SciDev.Net. My role involves training journalists on how to report about science in the media. I do this by organising online and face-to-face training and supporting two universities in Africa to embed science journalism in their undergraduate curricula.
Prior to joining CABI I worked with the New Vision newspaper in Uganda for over 16 years as a science writer, science editor, Saturday Vision editor and Sunday Vision editor. I also worked with the Infectious Diseases Institute of Makerere University in Uganda as a communication specialist for over two years.
CABI has a regional centre for Africa in Nairobi. Agriculture is essential for sub-Saharan Africa’s economic growth and yet average crop yields in Africa are among the lowest in the world. Over 80% rely on it but many face challenges in growing sufficient good quality produce.
