About
I am responsible for the organization’s publishing portfolio and the development of innovative, revenue-generating products that support CABI’s mission to improve people’s lives worldwide by providing information and applying expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment.
My role spans commercial publishing and the translation of knowledge, data, and insights from CABI’s donor-funded research and international development projects into scalable products that extend reach, impact, and financial sustainability. This work directly supports CABI’s mission to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges, including hunger, poverty, gender inequality, climate change, and biodiversity loss, while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
CABI’s publishing and product activities focus on putting know-how into people’s hands by transforming evidence-based information into actionable advice. This includes abstracting and indexing databases that help users find essential content and stay up to date in their fields; open access journals and preprint services that provide a fast, open, and trusted route for sharing research across agriculture and the biosciences; and books, digital resources, and flagship products such as the CABI Compendium. Together, these products synthesise global expertise to help answer critical questions in agriculture, the environment, and international development.
Before joining CABI, I completed a PhD on potatoes at the University of Cambridge, and have over 30 years’ experience in scholarly and professional publishing. My career spans journals, books, databases, evidence synthesis, digital media, and e-learning, working closely with many of the world’s leading societies and professional associations.
