About
I have 20 years’ experience in IT administration, including troubleshooting and system development. My particular areas of interest include building information systems using web frameworks, maintaining servers and networks, web programming and designing multimedia work. I’m familiar with Microsoft Access, ASP, HTML, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Visual Studio, Filemaker Pro, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
My IT role involves network administration, deploying Microsoft Windows Server technologies, network protocols and services, configuring network devices, integrating multimedia video conferencing equipment into office networks, and providing front-end user support. I have also been involved in building database-driven websites and designing databases and web frameworks that support CABI’s international development projects.
I also support CABI’s international development projects in other ways. I have written and contributed to proposals, concept notes, expressions of interest for project calls and submissions. I have managed projects in Indonesia, and participated as a project module/component lead for information, data management and communication in cross-cutting thematic projects in Southeast Asia (Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam & Cambodia). I have also supported CABI-wide programmes, such as Plantwise, in capacity building, expanding stakeholder knowledge in data management and online management systems training.
CABI centre: Malaysia
CABI’s regional centre in Malaysia works across the whole of South East Asia. This region is still largely agriculture-dependent, very biodiversity-rich and environmentally-fragile.

mNutrition: Addressing hidden hunger through mobile messaging
One in three people in the developing world suffer from hidden hunger, or micronutrient deficiency, due to a lack of information on proper nutrition. This is a major cause of illness, poor growth, reduced productivity and impaired cognitive development. To help combat the problem, CABI and its partners in the DFID mNutrition initiative are developing content for a mobile phone-based messaging service aimed at increasing knowledge of nutrition and health within communities in 14 countries.
