I joined CABI in May 2014. Prior to this I was with the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) as an Information, Communications & Technology (ICT) Customer Services Officer. I joined here in 2007, first as a consultant support technician, and grew into my current role. I have been involved in optimum troubleshooting and problem solving, managing and implementing ICT projects, providing support of IT hardware, software and networks, data backup and migration, user support and IT helpdesk support, Windows XP/Vista and Microsoft Office administration, network support and exchange email support.
The overall responsibility of my role is to formulate, develop and implement effective ICT strategy, management policies and procedures, administering day-to-day operations and co-coordinating all ICT activities to obtain optimum ICT value while ensuring compliance with all relevant and applicable regulations. This will involve leading, directing and overseeing the ICT function thereby ensuring the stability, integrity, efficiency and continuous operation of systems, networks, database architecture
and security of CABI’s ICT environment and information systems that support core organizational functions and achieving consistency and reliability of hardware, software, non-system tools, data archiving, communication links and offsite disaster recovery management. This includes development and implementation of enterprise solutions paramount to the success of this role in conjunction with CABI-wide IT teams and functions.
