Skills Framework
We are working with partners from across the agriculture community to create a globally applicable skills framework, initially for extension service providers, plant doctors, agro-dealers and others who advise smallholder farmers. This framework will provide a foundational vocabulary for designing training programmes, creating certifications, doing training needs analysis, writing job descriptions and visualising career pathways.
Comprehensive
Nearly 150 skills identified, described and categorised by job role, certification level and topic
Open
Free to use for non-commercial purposes
Community-led
Created by and for the agricultural advisory community. Anyone can contribute ideas and ask questions
Certifications
Based on the Skills Framework, we are developing a suite of certifications designed to help people demonstrate their capabilities.
Global standards
A common set of certifications will help countries measure themselves against each other, and help people move between jobs and countries
Locally flexible
Each country will have its own specific needs, and so will apply some certifications and not others
Mapped to skills framework
By starting with the skills framework, a country, organisation or individual can decide which certifications are most relevant for their local context
Training
Our modular training programmes are designed to help develop skills mapped to the Skills Framework.
Modular
People can choose a specific micro-course to meet a particular need, or can build a set of courses to lead towards a certification
Supported self-study
You won’t be on your own. You have a community of other participants to call on, and access to CABI’s 24 hour helpdesk
Mapped to skills framework
By starting with the skills, framework, a country, organisation or individual can decide which courses are most relevant for them
