This document provides a snapshot of the UK’s capacity in multiplex genome editing. It covers some of the key research areas, regulatory developments and scientific institutes driving innovation. The work was a rapid scoping exercise, not considered to be exhaustive study of the entire research landscape.
The research involved a bibliometric analysis and web crawl to identify leading researchers and research groups investigating AI in crop breeding and multiplex genome editing. A landscape mapping exercise supplemented the bibliometric analysis and stakeholder surveys helped to identify organisations with expertise in using AI in crop breeding. One-on-one interviews facilitated the creation of a shortlist of leading institutions.
