Supporting smallholder farmers to predict, prepare for, and prevent plant health threats
Smallholder farmers produce around one-third of the world’s food, yet up to 40% of crops are lost each year to pests and diseases.
Climate change is accelerating plant health challenges worldwide. Smallholder farmers are on the front lines of this crisis.
Plant pests and invasive species, like fall armyworm, threaten crop yields and food security. Farmers often rely on pesticides to control them, but misuse can harm human health and beneficial insects.
With the support of partners, PlantwisePlus strengthens national plant health systems. We do this by equipping farmers with actionable knowledge and promoting sustainable crop protection practices that protect both livelihoods and biodiversity.
