I'm going to show you how to do an anesthetic machine check. Obviously, I'm in a simulated environment, so I'm not in my normal uniform. If I came in the morning to check this anesthetic machine, I would initially just give it an overview and see what's going on. Make sure all my dials were turned down, and everything was switched off before I did anything. The first thing I will check is my Tec or vaporizer. And I'll check three things on this. I'll check that my dial is free and rotating. Make sure I'm happy with that, and that's set off. Make sure it's locked onto the back bar. And that is locked there nice and securely. And I would also check my levels of the fluid inside here. This Tec is an ISO Tec. And if I wasn't happy with the levels here, I'd undo the filling port and fill it from the relevant bottle. So I'm going to move on now to my O2. So I have two cylinders on here. And what I'm going to do initially is I'm going to check my reserve cylinder. I have the ratchet here. I don't want it on off. I want to turn it to on. I'm going to put it on top of the oxygen here, and just turn it on. You only need to turn it once. And check my levels. 150 is full. So this is just below full. So I'm happy with that as a level. Then I'll turn on my flow meter. I'll turn it on to about four, and I'll watch the bobbin spinning. You can see by the dot, it's going around. I'm reading from the top of the bobbin to see what level it's at. At the same time, I'm also listening to make sure I cannot hear any leaks. And there aren't any leaks, so I'm happy with that. I will just press my O2 emergency flush to make sure it's coming through there, and it is. So now I can turn my flow meter off. I'm going to turn my cylinder off, so I flip my ratchet to off. Put it onto the top and turn back against itself. I'm now going to empty the system, so I turn the bobbin right up to the top, watch my dial drop down, at which point you'll hear the alarm, which comes out of the O2 emergency. So I now know I haven't got any O2 in the system. I close back my flow meter. And I'm going to switch to my in-use cylinder. So once again, I get my ratchet. Turn it to on. Pop it on top. Open. OK. So it's just under 2/3 full because it's just reading below 100. I'm happy with that. There's no horrible hissing sound, which I'm listening for as well. Turn up my flow meter once again to about four. Watch the bobbin spinning. I'm just happy with that. Just check that it's coming through sufficiently here. So I'll just turn this off and down. I'm going to leave the dial on. And that's my anesthetic machine checked and ready for use. I haven't checked the nitrous because I haven't got any cylinders on here today.
