This video is going to show the restraint for cephalic and jugular sampling in the dog. It's important the handler addresses the dog by name and speaks to them in a reassuring manner as they place the dog into a sitting position. The handler then gently but securely holds the dog's head against their body. The handler places the dog's elbow into the palm of the hand. This prevents the dog from pulling the limb back. The thumb can be used to raise and rotate the vein. Next, the handler is placing the dog into a sitting position. The head is extended upwards, and a hand is placed around the dog's chest to prevent the dog lying down. This is a position for jugular sampling.
