15 beef bulls were infected with Theileria annulata through the bite of ticks (Hyalomma anatolicum). Parvaquone (1 mg in 150 ml of oily suspension) was injected i.m. at 1 ml per 15 kg body weight, repeated after 48 hours. Two of 5 bulls treated immediately after infection died from theileriasis....

Abstract

Research on a cell-culture vaccine against Theileria annulata, conducted at the All-Union Institute for Experimental Veterinary Medicine in Moscow, is outlined. Vaccine trials conducted in Uzbekistan showed that 98-100% of cattle grazing tick-infested pastures were protected from infection.
