Abstract

Of the 418 serum samples examined, 21 (5%) were positive for brucellosis, 24 (5.7%) for salmonellosis, 30 (7%) for chlamydiosis, 125 (30%) for bluetongue, 162 (38.8%) for IBR IPV and 248 (59%) for toxoplasmosis; all were negative for listeriosis and paratuberculosis.

The most prevalent diseases in Italian East Africa are rinderpest, horse-sickness, anthrax, rabies, piroplasmosis and trypanosomiasis. Of these, rinderpest causes the greatest loss.
