Abstract

There were no outbreaks of ANTHRAX, PARALYTIC RABIES nor SWINE FEVER.
Among 1, 228 cattle tested for TB. there were 6% positive reactors. Among buffaloes in the sugar plantations there were 35% reactors. It is stated that in some cases these were slaughtered.

Abstract

GENERAL DISEASES.-There was no serious outbreak of animal disease in 1940. One case only of ANTHRAX was recorded. Routine testing revealed 32 cases of TUBERCULOSIS and nine others were found among animals slaughtered at abattoirs. BOVINE CONTAGIOUS ABORTION was diagnosed only among dairy herds....

Abstract

With the exception of anthrax among cattle imported from Venezuela there have been no contagious diseases among imported animals. Venezuelan animals are vaccinated against anthrax before being issued from quarantine. Anthrax regulations are in force against St. Vincent and Demerara.
