Abstract

Skin samples were taken from 15 different regions of the hides of 52 cattle from the Midi-Pyrénées region of France. Microfilariae were recovered from 20 cattle and were found only on the ventral midline, with the highest concn in the region of the umbilicus.

Abstract

Weekly examination of skin samples from the umbilical area of 654 cattle from April 1990 to April 1992 at an abattoir in Ariège revealed an overall 55.6% infection rate. Significant age and seasonal variations were found.
