After 270 consecutive passages through hen's eggs, O type F. & M. disease virus was non-pathogenic for cattle, but still produced typical generalized F, & M. disease in pigs and g. pigs. It appeared that the virus must come abundantly in contact with chorio-allantoic ectoderm to infect the embryo.
