Abstract

Automated analytical equipment ("BN 100") gave results for haptoglobin comparable to methaemoglobin-binding capacity assay. Values averaged <9 mg/dl in 39 cattle, 49 mg/dl in 30 horses and 39 mg/dl in 44 pigs. Tests on 194 cattle showed that haptoglobin concentration increased during inflammatory diseases.
