Abstract

A review is given of attempts to produce protection against babesial infection by means of antigens derived from infected blood. So far it has been difficult to identify or isolate the antigens involved.

Abstract

The morphology and life-cycle, classification, host-parasite relationships, diagnosis, epizootiology and chemotherapy of babesiasis are reviewed with 9 pages of references. Clinical and sub-clinical infections and their role in the development of immunity are discussed.
