Abstract

The results of tuberculin testing between 1981 and 1987 showed that prevalence rates in cattle varied between <0.05% (Uruguay in 1986) and 3.7% (Ecuador in 1983). Control programmes have eradicated the disease from cattle in Cuba and Panama, and lowered the prevalence in Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Paraguay, Trinidad-Tobago, Uruguay, Venezuela and in some areas of Chile and Mexico.
