Abstract

A leptospire cultured from the kidney of an aborted bovine fetus was typed as Ballum serovar castellonis by endonuclease restriction. It is suggested that Ballum may occur sporadically in southern Chile, where Pomona and Hebdomadis are the prevalent serogroups in cattle.
