Abstract

Pooled skin samples each containing material collected from the lower abdomen of 20 cows in the summer were examined from 44 farms in 1987 and 18 in 1988; 7 (16%) and 5 (27%) farms were positive, respectively, for microfilariae.

Faeces were examined from 14 069 animals in large herds in central Bohemia. Of 2084 calves in calving houses, 36% had coccidia and 2.5% gastrointestinal (GI) nematodes; of 1129 examined after transfer to large calf houses, these figures were 57.8 and 7.1% and rose to 72.4 and 10.9% in 4612 animals...
