Abstract

Diagnosis of acute bovine besnoitiosis is a major diagnostic problem. We developed diagnostic tests to serologically diagnose and differentiate acute and chronic cases of bovine besnoitiosis using affinity purified antigens of Besnoitia besnoiti tachyzoites in immunoblots and in both, a...

Abstract

A number of Theileria annulata genes have been cloned, sequenced and expressed, including TaSP, TaD, TaSE and TamtHSP70. Several recent publications document the suitability of the recombinant TaSP protein for use in the diagnosis of tropical theileriosis. To investigate whether TaD, TaSE or...

Abstract

A protein conjugate of monensin was prepared and used to produce monoclonal antibodies in the BALB/c-P3X63Ag8U.1 fusion system. Only 1 hybridoma that produces monoclonal antibody against monensin was isolated from 1 in 329 wells. The monoclonal antibody was used to develop quantitative assays for...

Abstract

An antigen was prepared from metabolic products which were produced by maintaining 1st instar larvae of Hypoderma lineatum on RPMI tissue culture medium for 48 h. The antigen compared favourably with a soluble extract of larvae when used in an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

Abstract

The application of immunological methods to the early diagnosis of bovine hypodermosis has been developed since 1970 when a specific antigen was characterized from the 1st instar larvae of Hypoderma bovis and H. lineatum. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) has progressively supplanted many...

Abstract

A method is described by which the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique can be adapted for the detection of larvae of Hypoderma bovis (L.) in bovines and possibly in man.
