I. Anaesthetized cats and unanaesthetized rats were poisoned with Acaprin (quinuronium sulfate). Anoxic excitation culminated in respiratory arrest. Death appeared to be due to histotoxic anoxia. Attempts to protect rats with adrenaline, ephedrine, and dexamphe-tamine failed.
