The ophthalmoscopic findings in the normal foal at birth and in the convulsive foal syndrome are described and illustrated. Other congenital abnormalities reported in Thoroughbred foals are microphthalmos ("button eye") entropion, coloboma of the lens, and persistant papillary membrane.
