Under-nutrition has been and continues to be a serious public health problem in Bangladesh. Although there has been a reduction in child under-nutrition in Bangladesh, the prevalence of under weight children <5 is 41%. At the low annual rate of reduction in child under-nutrition of 1.27 percentage points it is unlikely that Bangladesh will be able to achieve the Millennium Development Goal targeting under-nutrition.
