New look for Leisuretourism website

From the 13th of July 2009, Leisuretourism will have a new look with some new features to enable the user to get the best results from searching the global leisure and tourism information.

The new developments will allow the user to search across the whole content of the site and display the results in a more convenient form. There is also access to the main Leisuretourism Database via a new search interface (CAB Direct-2) for more detailed search strategies.

The Site Search box now searches all the site content, including the abstracts database, displaying the results in separate tabs for articles and abstracts. However, please be aware that for more advanced database searching, and to see all fields in the abstracts records, it is best to use the separate Abstracts Database search using Cab Direct or Cab Direct 2.

A new browse tree, along the left hand side of the site, can be expanded so that the user to delve down into the content by particular topics. For example, the tourism section of the browse tree can be expanded to view specific searches on topics such as ecotourism and sustainable tourism, with both articles and abstracts being displayed in separate tabs. These browse trees work by running pre-defined searches, so again be aware that the best results for searching the database will be obtained from the Cab Direct interface. The news and other articles can also still be viewed under editor-assigned broad categories, and browsed by date, if accessed by clicking the 'In brief and in depth' tab at the top of the page.

The new version of the site is currently in Beta testing and can be viewed at http://www.cabi.org/leisuretourism/. This will also become the new URL for the site from 13 July, although the existing URL can still be used and will redirect to the new site after launch. Please take a look at the new site, and send any comments to leisuretourism@cabi.org.
