Welcome to the tomato leafminer portal. The tomato leafminer (Tuta absoluta) is native to South America and feeds almost exclusively on tomato. Following its introduction into Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, it has already caused extensive economic damage.

The impact of Tuta absoluta includes severe yield loss reaching 100%, increasing tomato prices, bans on the trade of tomato, an increase in synthetic insecticide applications, disruption of integrated management programmes of other tomato pests, and an increase in the cost of crop protection.

This portal contains a wide range of news, research, practical extension materials, videos and other resources on Tuta absoluta. Below is a sample of the resources available. To see the full list click the ‘see more’ links below, or enter ‘tomato leafminer’ or ‘Tuta absoluta’ in the site search above.

The information comes from many organisations and sources. If you have resources that you would like included, please contact isc@cabi.org.
