Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Newer invasive plant pathogens in Hungary.

Abstract

Due to climate change, rapid development of trade infrastructure, free flow of propagating material, plants and agricultural products, we are facing year by year the appearance of previously unknown pests, diseases on new host plants or the expansion of endophytic organisms due to abiotic stress. Rising average temperatures, mild and dry winters, and irregular rainfall patterns may lead to the emergence of pathogens that were previously not reports of problem. In addition to symptom description and morphological characterization, molecular-level identification is now essential for the identification of a new pathogen.
