Natural controllers and weeds associated with Spodoptera frugiperda in rice cultivation in Cordoba.

Abstract

This paper presents the results of a study conducted in Colombia, to control Spodoptera frugiperda using biological control agents and weeds in rice cultivation area. Parasitoids Apanteles marginiventris and Euplectrus plathypenae and the nematode Hexamermis were the most frequent on armyworm larvae. A total of 22.95% of the larvae of S. frugiperda were affected by parasitoids and 25.15% by nematodes. Andrallus spinidens is a potential predator of larvae of the fall bud. The larvae of S. frugiperda were observed in Echinochloa colonum, Digitaria sanguinalis and Cyperaceae. The natural enemies identified influence the population fluctuation of the larval and pupal stages of S. frugiperda.
