Ecology and distribution of the invasive mosquito species Aedes albopictus (Skuse, 1895) in the south of the European part of Russia.
The purpose of this study was to show the ecological preferences of the invasive mosquito species Aedes albopictus and establish its current range. It is shown that Ae. albopictus spread from the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus deep into the European part of Russia from 2017 to 2019. The northern boundary of distribution of this species in 2019 passed through the towns of Timashevsk and Kropotkin and city of Armavir. The limiting environmental parameters at the preimaginal stages of Ae. albopictus development are the content of water-dissolved oxygen and water acidity. According to our assumption, air humidity and the floristic composition of the environment are the main factors determining the expansion of mosquito Aedes albopictus deep into the Russian Plain. The results of this research can be used for epidemiological surveillance and planning preventive measures.
