Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

First central American record of the invasive asian beetle Xylopsocus capucinus (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae).

Abstract

Xylopsocus capucinus is an invasive beetle of the family Bostrichidae. One specimen of X. capucinus was collected on 2 March 2019 in Tatumbla, Francisco Morazan, Honduras. Given the distance from the closest port, it is assumed that the species is established in the country. This is the first formal record of the species from Central America. The specimen from Honduras (EAPZ 100.443) has been deposited in the Insect Collection at Zamorano University (Escuela Agricola Panamericana) in Zamorano, Honduras (EAPZ).
