Growth and development of black bramble (Mimosa pigra L.) in eastern Puerto Rico.
This paper presents the results of a field experiment established in April 2013 at the Gurabo Agricultural Experiment Station-Substation in Puerto Rico to document the development and growth aspects of black bramble (Mimosa pigra). The study confirms that the black bramble has an aggressive growth and development in the eastern part of the country. As in Gurabo, municipalities located in the subtropical humid forest ecological zone are habitats susceptible to colonization by the black bramble. Municipalities in this area that produce dairy and forage cattle are recommended to use the findings of this study to establish a management plan for black bramble.
