Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

First record of the invasive Myrmechixenus vaporariorum guérin-méneville, 1843 (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) in the West Indies.

Abstract

This paper reports the first record of the invasive Myrmechixenus vaporariorum in Cuba. Given that M. vaporariorum is reported from an isolated area in central Cuba, far from ports and cities, it would not be surprising if the species is found more widely on the island. It is hoped this notice may encourage others to watch for, recognize and, if found, report this species more widely in the region and the Neotropics more broadly.
