Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

21st International Conference on Aquatic Invasive Species, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, 27-31 October 2019.

Abstract

This special issue contains 10 papers on aquatic invasive species in different habitats worldwide. Topics covered include: (1) several factors associated with the occurrence of Hedychium coronarium in the riparian areas of six streams in southern Brazil.; (2) a population genetics approach for the study of fluridone resistance in hydrilla; (3) a study on the benthic diatom Didymosphenia geminata; (4) invasion and current distribution of the octocoral Carijoa riisei; (5) quantification of the non-indigenous ophiuroid Ophiothela mirabilis Verrill, 1867 associated with marine sponges with different morphologies; (6) spatial variation in propagule pressure and establishment of zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha) within a subtropical reservoir; (7) assessment whether movement behaviour differs between two mussel species (Dreissena bugensis and D. polymorpha); (8) potential effects of invasive Dreissenid mussels on a pelagic freshwater ecosystem; (9) genetic trajectories of zebra and quagga mussel invasions across three decades: Lake Erie versus Hudson River populations; and (10) assessment of the probable distribution of the potentially invasive Chinese mystery snail, Cipangopaludina chinensis, in Nova Scotia using a random forest model approach.
