Abstract

An attempt was made to evaluate different types of pheromone mediated traps to monitor the activity of lepidopteran pests of potato during 2018-19 in Central Agricultural University, Umiam, Meghalaya. Funnel type of Sleeve trap with Spodo lure was found to be efficient in trapping the maximum of 250 adult moths of Spodoptera litura (Fabricius). A higher number of adult moths of tomato pinworm (Tuta absoluta (Meyrick)) was attracted to pinworm mediated water trap (349 moths), funnel trap (462 moths) and sticky trap (399 moths). Funnel type of sleeve type of trap was found to be efficient in attracting moths of semi looper (Trichoplusia ni (Hubner)) by attracting 98 moths. Among the different trap models, funnel type emerged as best to attract S. litura moths. The interaction studies revealed that funnel trap proved to be better in attracting higher number of T. absoluta (7.84 moths) followed by sticky trap (6.79 moths) and water traps (5.89 moths).
