Abstract

First report of Alternaria dauci causing leaf blight of coriander (Coriandrum sativum) in Algeria.

Abstract

In 2017 and 2018, a severe foliar blight (disease incidence 61.8% and severity 34%; n = 136) was observed in commercial coriander cultivated in Saint Remy and Gdyel (wilaya Oran), Algeria. Symptoms were oval or irregular dark brown lesions on leaves. The causal pathogen was isolated and identified as Alternaria dauci based on morphological, molecular and pathogenicity analyses. This is thought to be the first report of A. dauci causing foliar disease of coriander in Algeria.
