Abstract

Strawberry cv. Florida Radiance showing leaf blight-like symptom was observed in commercial fields near Great Village, Nova Scotia, Canada, in 2017. Based on morphological, physiological characteristics, molecular data (sequence analysis of ribosomal DNA and multilocus gene sequence) and pathogenicity test, the causal pathogen was identified as Pantoea ananatis. This is thought to be the first report of P. ananatis causing leaf blight on strawberry in Nova Scotia, Canada.
