Abstract
This proceedings contains 11 papers focusing on the importance of the establishment of international and national networks to monitor and describe species invasions and the role of biofouling and ballast water in spreading organisms and the importance of establishing management mechanisms to stop their spread. The interactions of introduced organisms with novel environments and communities (bioinvasion ecology) is discussed and the various host-parasite interactions in invasion are highlighted.
