Diagnosis of urban trees of the urban area of the municipality of Nova Bréscia, RS, Brazil.

Abstract

The arborization has an important function in conservation of biodiversity and adequation of urban space. But its implantation is not always thought and executed taking into account ecological and structural aspects of used plants, what can generate problems bound to maintenance and handling. To propose intervention actions is necessary evaluate the conditions of different areas, contributing to the construction of a data base. In this sense, the objective of this study was perform the qualiquantitative analysis of urban arborization of the municipality of Nova Bréscia - RS. Were evaluated all arboreal and arborescent individuals implanted in landscaping, found in urban zone and in currently paved roads. The data collection happened in the period of October to November of 2013, where was verified the occurrence of 625 specimens, 37 genre, 23 families and 45 species. Are native 26 species, with 138 specimens, representing 22,08%; exotics 19 species, totaling 486 specimens and 77,76% of frequency. Was concluded that, even the number of native species is bigger, the relative frequency of exotic species is higher, what is inconsistent with the current orientations about urban arborization.
