Abstract

Surgical management of peribulbar abscess in Indian Star tortoise (Geochelone elegans) - a case report.

Abstract

A 2 year old, male Indian Star tortoise weighing 500 gms was presented with the complaint of swelling on the left eye. The eye ball was not visible. Surgical exploration of the swelling under general anaesthesia revealed a green coloured conjunctival abscess, which was resected under general anaesthesia. Healthy eyeball was visible after removal of the abscess. The tortoise recovered completely after the treatment and no recurrence was recorded on 6 months follow up.
