Abstract

Description of two new records of whitefly pests that damage mulberry trees in Zhejiang Province.

Abstract

In 2010-18, the main mulberry planting areas in Zhejiang Province (China) were investigated for species of whitefly pests. A total of 8 species were identified. Among them, Aleurocanthus spiniferus was first discovered to harm mulberry trees, and Aleuroplatus pectiniferus was the first report on mulberry trees in Zhejiang. This paper provides identification characteristics, geographical distribution, host information, and morphological maps for these two species of whitefly. At the same time, the species of white mites in China were counted, and a classification table of Chinese mulberry powder mites was compiled which provided a basis for accurate identification and scientific prevention and control of white mites.
