Energy efficiency of invasive plant species common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca L.).
Abstract
Common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca L.) is an allochthonous plant species that exhibits a strong propagation ability in the form of successful reproduction, distribution, and occupation of a new space. This paper explores the fuel, combustible and noncombustible matter of this species biomass, and also its energy potential. The results of the analysis of ash, coke and fixed carbon of this species biomass, as well as the biochar and bio-oil content, are within expected values for good agricultural biomass. These results of biomass and biochar, represent this species as a potentially good energy source.
